  • Tumbl'weeds History

With a passion for dance, BJ and Lin embarked on a cross-country trip in 1990 visiting more than 50 cities where the dancing was hot. They stayed in each town until they had explored dozens of dance halls.

Upon returning home, more enthused than ever, they set out to create the kind of dance place that they thought would be perfect for dancing in every way. What they envisioned was:

Tumbl'weeds was alcohol free, smoke free, and offered patrons a 13,000 square feet wood dance floor.

Not only was there dancing for hours on end on a 13,000 square foot dance floor, but 3,000 square feet was earmarked for dance lessons all night long. Line dances, pattern dances, 2-step, waltz, and everything in between could be found on the designated "practice floors" for the entire night. Beginners need not lament that they didn't know the dances. Rather than being relegated to their seats as spectators for the whole night, they could instead spend the evening learning the dances from skilled instructors...all at no additional cost. No wallflowers here!
